This month's pin is the creation of Anna Carroll-Smith, the artist and designer behind Ted & Kip. Anna is based by the seaside in the sunny south of the UK. Her slightly grumpy, weird geometric animal illustrations are actually happy souls who believe in love, kindness and equality. Ted & Kip came about after Anna decided to leave her grey boring day job and follow her love for all things creative (a passion that started at a young age when her great grandmother taught her how to knit). The name Ted & Kip is important to her as it is the names of her two small children who constantly inspire her with their love of colour, unicorns and the absurd. When she is not sat on her sofa, iPad and pencil in hand, Anna likes to collect vinyl toys (and is madly obsessed with Sonny Angels). Her favourite meal is breakfast and she quite often eats chocolate biscuits for dinner. You can email Anna at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, queries, commissions or if you love Sonny Angels too and just want to chat about them!
Meet the Maker of our August enamel pin! Bri Bulski is an illustrator and product designer residing in Eugene, Oregon. She founded Little Arrow in 2013 after she left her job as Art Director at a nationally recognized greeting card company. She did not attend college but instead learned the graphic design trade on the job. The name Little Arrow is significant on a personal level, and reminds her to always move forward no matter what, even if she’s scared of the future and what she’s trying to accomplish seems impossible. She does her best to pay attention and follow her internal compass, the “little arrow” inside her heart.
Bri’s parents own the local flea market where she grew up helping out. Lovingly called “The Flea”, she’s scored a ton of fun and weird vintage prize possessions over the years and to this day it’s her favorite way to spend a Sunday morning. Her cheery design studio is decorated with bright colors and items she’s found thrifting. Her designs are heavily influenced by toys and memorabilia from her childhood and vintage clothing and costume jewelry. She loves unicorns, rainbows, and anything that symbolizes positivity. She loves to design products that make people smile and laugh when they see them.
When she’s not in the studio she’s lifting weights at the gym, having a cocktail with her gal pals, or exploring Oregon with her husband and 2 dogs. Her most favorite meal is a cheeseburger and a chocolate milkshake and her favorite album is a toss-up between Post by Björk, Singles by Future Islands, and Hounds of Love by Kate Bush.
