Meet the Maker: Marimo Buttons

Meet the Maker: Marimo Buttons

Introducing Lisa Liidemann

Lisa Liidemann is a Toronto-based graphic designer and illustrator. At her day job, she creates custom artwork for major hotel chains. During convention season, Lisa exhibits her anime and video game fan art at artist alleys, and all year round she's selling artwork and accessories from her online stores. In 2005, Lisa launched Studio Marimo, a weird little brand that started with art prints but has transformed into the 3-dimensional to include embroidered patches, enamel pins, keychains, and pinback buttons. Since 2010, Lisa has been running Marimo Buttons, a custom button-making service that has found most of its client base in the local Toronto artist scene. Lisa finds her inspiration in cute animals, old video games and technology, bold and colorful patterns, and classic cartoons. Her favorite animal changes on a week-to-week basis. This week: the elephant seal.
